A WEEK AFTER FIRST SELF-RELEASE: REFLECTION
FRIDAY 2 AUGUST 2024

So, how did it go? Of course, other than family, friends, a few hits from sharing online, no ads, no label and no influencer assistance, total plays and purchases across all platforms sits at around 200 right now, maybe a tiny bit more. I'm also choosing not to contribute to the sum of plays as I'm paranoid about ever being flagged for over-playing / inflating. A snippet I have on SoundCloud got some questionable repeat plays, so I don't count those, and Spotify doesn't want to budge from 8 total monthly listeners, even though I'm pretty sure it's more. Even looking at Spotify's top 5 locations totals more listeners, so...?
I'm well aware of the fact that without "performing", which in my genres tends to translate into DJing, one has little to no chance of being heard. But just like jobs with travel and taking selfies, I'm not interested in being away on business nor putting myself out there and being part of the product, so to speak. As already mentioned in previous posts, reaching out to labels is pointless as no one seems to manage demo inboxes, and labels are really only interested in artists that are DJing and have already amassed at least 10-100 thousand followers on social media.
So, now what? In short, hustle. Just keep hustling, lose all pride, share shamelessly but relevantly, create content, see what happens, remember that I'm trying, and eat fries when sad. Now, I could drop some links and in no-shame form ask for a like, follow or subscribe and ask that it not be done out of pity. Or I could be silly and not provide any links and not ask for anything. But I am "SERASON", all-CAPS, so here are the links...Click because you want to! :)
